What is Mastery of Math?

Mastery of Math is a series of one week math courses that will be taught throughout the summer. Students will learn to perform difficult calculations without a calculator—quickly and accurately—using novel techniques geared towards efficiency, reliability and accuracy.


What material is covered?

The Level 1 course covers techniques for checking answers, addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
The Level 2 course covers advanced multiplication, division, square roots and fractions.


How will my child benefit?

Your child will amaze you with their improved ability to perform lengthy calculations by hand. Your child will experience a significant increase in confidence and accuracy. They will build the habit of checking their answers. The course will renew their interest in math and help prepare them for future success.


What if my child is already good at math?

The course will take your child to a higher level. Students who are already good at math always say they wish they could have learned the material at a younger age.


What age level is recommended?

The Level 1 course is targeted towards 4th grade students and older. Students should know their times tables up to ten. They should be able to concentrate for an hour at a time and have a sincere desire to improve their ability to do calculations.

The Level 2 course is appropriate for students who have taken the Level 1 course. The material is targeted towards 6th graders or older. Younger students can take the course if they are proficient with the Level 1 material.


What is the class size?

Each class is limited to 15 students. Each class will be taught by a highly-trained instructor, and one or two well-qualified assistants.


How will my child retain what they learn in the course?

After the course there will be a series of follow up online sessions (Webinars). These will consist of one hour practice sessions that will reinforce the material taught in the classrooms. Each course includes five Webinars. Additional packages of five Webinars can be purchased for $75.

When are the classes and registration?

Each course consists of 15 hours of instruction, taught over one week, three hours per day, M-F.

Level 1 classes will be taught in the morning from 9-12 each day. Level 2 classes will be taught from 1-4 each afternoon. Each day includes several breaks, plus snacks and drinks. All course materials are provided to the students.

The cost for each class is $550 per student.

Level 1, suitable for 4th graders and older, is a prerequisite for Level 2. Course schedule | Course info
